Happy New Years
(I love this photo, it was a super looong exposure at night, and it totally came out like day)
So the new year is here. 2007....hmm...so far I have declared 2007:
year of learning,
year of money,
year of business,
year of clumsy,
year of languages,
year of the volunteer,
year of the pencil, and year of new wardrobe,
but let's be real, it is most importantly year of the DANCE...
I have a need to move my feet a la grape vine every other minute, already, i have had a wicked kitchen dance party with the Bot to Kelly Clarkson's "Since You've Been Gone" (though I believe Kyle may not have been loving it as much as me).
Already I have signed up for Mandarin classes with the Monster Factory. We start tomorrow night. I have heard it is hard...REALLY hard, but I am ready for a challenge, plus we found some wicked classes through the Toronto District School Board. Next up is Spanish.
Kyle and I started the new year on a beach in the small village of Mazunte in Mexico. It was AMAZING, but I feel that I might leave our vacation for another post, since there is soo much to cover, and I still haven't uploaded all the pics, specifically from the first half which we spent travelling with meen, raffi, becca, elaine and tony, our west coast posse. Let's just say for now, that fireworks, sand, fresh fish, delicious beer, ocean soundtrack and good friends is hands down one of the best ways I have ever brought in the New Year.
Ok, resolutions, so I made some and they go something like this:
less television (more accurately less bad t.v.)
ummm...so I have already kind of failed at this one, a couple nights ago I found myself glued to "House of Carters" the Nick and Aaron Carter reality show...OMG, I know it is trash, but somehow I just could not tear myself away!
more making!
this applies to everything...more art, drawing, books, poems, knits, textiles, just more of it all
less sugar
o.k. I have flunked this one already as well...especially with the cupcake binge I took a ride on this weekend. Who knew cupcakes were so easy and cheap...and deeelicious...god I love you Betty Crocker!
more exercise, stretching, moving
this one has been I have been so so on. I went for a wicked run, but then it got cold again, and all the streets are iced over, so it seems a little dangerous for running. I have been stretching more though, and stretching rules!
volunteer
yup, i would like to up my volunteer contributions this year...i just found out that interaccess, a wicked toronto interactive, robotics, media art thing acepts volunteers...so I will be emailing soon!
birthdays!
this one i really need to achieve, which is to remember the important birthdays. Last year was I shamefully forgot a record number of important birthdays...it MUST NOT be repeated this year.
junk the jealousy
this one is hard...cause jealousy is one of those irritating and bothersome emotions that can really make you ugly...I am trying to shake it a little out of my skin
and finally focus.
i just need some right now.
And that is it for now, I am sure I will think of more.
Well, it is late, I will leave you with the invite to a party we threw for Kyle's 33 Birthday. It had a Miami Vice theme. The rest of the photos are up on Flickr, feel free to check 'em out.
The blog will also be going through an update soon as well. I just upgraded to the new blogger account and I am hoping it will allow me new freedom to personalize this blog a little....plus there are a couple new links I need to add, three of my new favorite blogs:
